Join us in the Fellowship Hall at the end of May for a viewing of The Dark Knight and – more importantly – a thoughtful discussion of the film and its worldview to follow. This film is the middle chapter of Christopher Nolan's widely-praised, popular, and influential Dark Knight trilogy and represents a seminal installment in the contemporary renaissance of superhero films.
Discussion will focus on the story, storytelling, and worldview of the film itself as well as a broader discussion of the superhero genre and the inescapable contrast with the Greatest Hero, the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Dark Knight is rated PG-13 for a little language, a lot of violence, and a whole lot of disturbing imagery, most of it centered around the film's main villain, the Joker. This clown is not for kids and parents who have not seen the movie are cautioned to preview it before bringing their children to the viewing.
